The subject of the work performed was to verify the current state of groundwater quality in the premises of the factory and of surface water in the River Svitava and to evaluate the current risks to health and ecosystems in relation to the planned land-use of the site, with a subsequent proposal of the extent and method of the site remediation.

Within the currently ongoing demolition and earth-moving work, it is also assumed to eliminate old ecological loads (OEL) caused by the use of the given premises that took place for nearly a hundred years. In the premises, significant contamination largely caused by chlorinated hydrocarbons, petroleum substances and heavy metals has been detected.

After eliminating OEL and demolition and reconstruction of buildings according to the current requirements and trends, new multifunctional housing designed in a modern style should be created. It will encompass both areas for living, and mixed areas for shops and services, as well as production spaces and areas for public amenities and areas for other urban greenery.
