Ecological risk assessment (evaluation of risk of ecological damage)

The evaluation of risk of ecological damage particularly concerns operators who can be a legal or a physical entity carrying out or managing operating activity pursuant to Annex No. 1 of Act No. 167/2008 Coll., on the prevention and remediation of ecological damage and on amendment of certain laws.

An ecological damage means an adverse measurable change in a natural resource or measurable deterioration of its functions, which may occur directly or indirectly. It is a change in:

  1. protected species of wild animals, or wild plants, or natural habitats, which has a serious adverse effects on reaching or maintaining the favourable condition of protection of such species or habitats;
  2. groundwater or surface water, including natural curative resources and resources of naturally occurring mineral water, which has a serious adverse effect on the ecological, chemical or quantitative stage of water or on its ecological potential; and
  3. soil by contamination, which means a serious risk of an adverse effect on human health as a result of direct or indirect application of substances, preparations, organisms or microorganisms to the soil surface or below it.

We offer to prepare a basic as well as a detailed risk assessment pursuant to Regulation No. 295/2011 Coll., on the method of evaluation of risks of ecological damage and more detailed conditions of financial security.

The particular procedure of preparation of the basic and detailed evaluation is set forth in the Methodological Guidelines of the Ministry of the Environment dated 2012.
