The Company GEOtest, a.s., within this project, ascertained the potential for the use of geothermal renewable energy resources in the territory of the town of Cazin. The site of Rujnica was selected as a suitable site for carrying out a survey. It is a site which falls into an area with highly probable geothermal potential.

Within the project implementation, a comprehensive geophysical survey was carried out at the site of Rujnica using five methods. Based on its results, an optimal site was determined for drilling a hydrogeological borehole, which was subsequently carried out together with downhole logging and five-day pumping tests.

Based on the data obtained, numerical models of the energy balance of the area of interest were processed. Also, scenarios of the possible use of geothermal energy were prepared. These concerned the possibilities of using the site for healthcare purposes (development of the spa industry, recreation in the region) or for agricultural development (e.g. the possibility of heating foil greenhouses and glasshouses).
