Sectional Polypropylene Screens of UGI Type
The screens are suitable for completing hydrogeological wells and deep tubular wells designed not only for water-supply exploitation (attested for drinking water), but also for other purposes, e.g., for heat pumps. They are also largely used in remediation work, when contaminated groundwater and contaminants in free liquid phase are pumped out from the rock environment. The best environment for the application of UGI screens is water-bearing gravel and sand.
Characteristics
It is skeleton screens with a frame structure of steel vertical bolts terminated with circular flanges of polypropylene.
The transverse skeleton is designed as a jigsaw puzzle of polypropylene plates which are slipped on a rod frame. When selecting a various number of vertical bolts, different screen diameters can be composed in the shape of a rounded polygon. Advantages of these screens include a large flow area (about 42 % of the surface) and resistance to corrosion, incrustation and most chemical substances (petroleum substances and their mixtures, chlorinated hydrocarbons, organic solvents, acids, lyes, etc.). They also withstand temperatures of up to 80°C without being deformed. The individual plates of hydrodynamic wedge shape are 4 mm thick at the inlet side and 2 mm at the inner side. This construction ensures excellent hydraulic parameters of the screens, thanks to which the screen slots do not become silted up. Materials used for the production of the screens are attested for health safety and can thus be used in water-supply engineering. The length of a screen section is 1000 mm. The length can be adjusted as needed.
