Detailed description of project

GEOtest implemented a sampling and analysis program that, in addition to already available environmental baseline data, provided an environmental database needed for preparing an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the construction and operation of a new lignite-fired thermal power plant (TPP), as well as for the opening-up, operation and final closure of a lignite open cast mine needed for the supply of the new TPP and existing TPP Kosovo A and B.

The main objective of the assignment was the collection of field data, focusing on soil, surface water and ground water to close the data gaps of the existing environmental database mentioned above in order to provide sufficient environmental baseline data for a fully elaborated EIA, as well as consulting to governmental officials at multiple levels on regulations and key thresholds related to managing water resources.
